Who we are?:

El Zota is a rain forest biological field station and its located in the northeast part of Costa Rica, in Tapezco; La Rita district, Pococi, Limon province. It is located exactly between Guapiles and Tortuguero National Park, near the Barra Del Colorado.
El Zota has about 1,000 hectares of tropical rain forest with an extend biodiversity, where our visitors will find out about numerous quantity of flora and fauna.
It has many different habitats like natural lagoons, rivers, swamps, primary forest, secondary forest, and reforestation areas with native species.

El Zota’s area has been under protection since 2000. Approximately 500 hectares composed of primary forest. El Zota shares its borders with Barra Del Colorado Wild Refuge, which is a valuable strategy to unify both conservation areas and help avoid the fragmentation of this forest.
